Several years ago I bought a group of 6 medals to Lt L.T. Holmes.
The group consists of 1939/45, Africa & Italy Stars; Defence & War Medals and Efficiency Medal GVI "Territorial" - the last medal named "Lt L T HOLMES MANCH".
The group came with a note from the vendor saying that Lt Holmes had probably served with the 9th Battalion in WWII.
Apart from three London Gazette entries I have been unable to find out anything further about him - although I think it is more likely that he served in the 8th Battalion and I think he enlisted on 5 October 1940.
I have not been able to find out his Christian names.
I plan to check the 8th Battalion war diaries in the not too distant future but does anyone know anything about Lt Holmes to give me a start?
Any information very gratefully received.
Many thanks.

Bob,
He was Leonard Taylor Holmes (151014), commissioned 05.10.1940 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/34968/supplement/5997 the start of the list is on page 5995.

He also served with the RA https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/36952/supplement/1057

Edit - the Army Lists on Ancestry suggest that for most of the war he was seconded to the RA

Charlie,
That's most helpful, thank you.
I had noticed his link with the Royal Artillery - I've just got to find out, how long for.
Thanks again and best wishes.
