Private 202962 Alan Knight, 2/10th Manchesters
« on: October 22, 2021, 07:47:00 AM »
A friend (thanks to Paul Wood) sent me a picture of a piece of urban artwork in Salford commemorating Private Alan Knight of C Company, 2nd/10th Battalion, who died on 13th January 1918, aged 19, and was buried at Tyne Cot. From the CWGC Roll of Honour:

Son of Andrew Spearing Knight and May Knight, of 9, Lloyd St., Hulme, Manchester

The inscription on his grave states: DEARER TO MEMORY THAN WORDS CAN TELL

That's one piece of amazing artwork. A lot of creativity and thought went into it, not just the portrait, but the Belgium flag, the figures etc. Hats off to the artist. it should be given the credit it rightly deserves.
