Dear MRF members,
Unfortunately no longer in my collection is the very good group to 2/Lt (later Capt) Ivor Ballantyne Evans, Manchester Regt (on 15 Star) and later Indian Army.
The medals: 15 Star Trio, IGS clasp Afgh NWF 1919 (A/Capt., 1/5 Infy), Defence. Mounted as worn.
He attended Felsted School and I have an Image of him at the school - which would obviously be of interest to the present owner. A scan was beamed to the dealer, but that may have been that!
Interestingly, mI. B. Evans had a Militia commission, saw service in France (although his Medal Index Card shows Salonika - where he also served as Adjutant of an Irish Regt), then attended RMC Sandhurst and obtained a Regular commission.
Nothing is known about the circumstances of his Defence Medal, but following retirement with gratuity some military service, he was Farming in England. He had four sons, all of whom attended Felsted School and had commissioned war service...
Kindest regards,
Kim Lindsay.
