Hi, this is my first time on here. I found a Victory medal many years ago, hidden behind a wooden panel in a house we had just moved into. I would like to give it to the chaps family, if any remain.

He was Private Charles Harrop, 2/7 battalion, Manchester Regiment. I have been doing some research myself. I know he died in Flanders on October 9th 1917, there's a memorial to him in Belgium. There seem to be a lot of Harrops in the Lancashire neck of the woods, how this medal came to Herefordshire I have no idea. I can't find his date of birth or if he married & is likely to have had children & then grandchildren who would like the medal.

I would appreciate any help you can give. Thank you.

Great, thank you Charlie. That gives me something to go on. So he wasn't married long before he died.  I'll see if I can find out more about his family on Ancestry UK.
