Quite by accident, I came across this soldier's name and discovered that he died of wounds on the 3rd October 1914 and that he is buried in the City of Paris Cemetery, Bagneux. Of interest to me, was that the information given by the CWGC states that this was one of the areas of Paris where ambulance trains deposited casualties incurred in the Aisne and Marne battles of 1914. This procedure reflects well on the RAMC in 1914.
Of the 36 soldiers buried in the cemetery only one is from the Manchesters. PhilipG.
