Whilst " Officers Died" for the Manchesters indicates that this officer was in the Manchester Regiment and attached to the B.W.I. Regt., the CWGC reports that he was in the 5th battalion British West Indies Regiment when he died on the 5th November 1918.    I note he is buried in Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery.   One wonders what regiment is named on his headstone.    Is anything known further re this officer whose NOK were domiciled in Manchester?    PhilipG.

Mack,

Many thanks for your helpful research.   Your explanation in respect of "re-commissioning" explains why his grave headstone will bear the B.W.I. Regiment crest.   PhilipG.
