Hi
I have come into possession of the first world war letters from George and Jack (John Lawrence) Gregson that were written into a book by his family. George was killed at Gallipoli June 1915 and I think Jack died in the 1960's. The book was found on a tip in Durham used by the council for house clearances by a friend but I cannot find a connection between the North East and Manchester. I am typing up the letters (approx 250 pages) which also have newspaper cuttings of the 8th Regiment as well as photos of the family and hand drawings that Jack did while he was posted in Egypt. The books have been promised to the Manchester military museum once I am finished with them but I would like to find any of the surviving family and hope if anyone logs on to the forum they might get in touch with me. On the 1911 census the family lived in Hulme, the father was called Samuel and the mother Sarah, there was also a sister who with the father wrote up all the letters.

Any information on the family would be appreciated.

Thanks

Lisa

Hi Lisa and Welcome to our Forum.  Can I first Commend you for doing this !  it's lovely to know it's being saved and preserved.

Can I just ask something, do the letters definately relate to mum as Sarah as the only George Gregson I can find who fits the description on The Commonwealth War Graves Commission Website is : Son of the late Samuel and Rebecca Gregson ?

I'm a little confused, but happy to try to help finding more info regarding the family.
