I having a bitta trouble  !!  ::)

As you may know ... I've been doing a bit with Gorton Monastery .... their Roll of Honour went missing and we've been trying to put the Roll back together .... apparently there were 128 ( ? ) names on it !!

So I had this brilliant idea to use Geoff's new search engine ......... it spit out 619 names ..........  :P :P :P :P

Any ideas on how to proceed from here ..... most of them are Manchesters ??

I plugged in Gorton !! .............. I thought it was a small place !!  :P

unless you have a list of those who were on st.francis memorial,then the gorton roll of honour is useless.

ime sorry if i seem to be putting a dampener on this,but if you dont know the names of the men listed on the st.francis roll of honour,then you cant compile a roll of honour,you may be doing some of these men an injustice,because they may not be of that faith.
there must have been a record of the memorial service when they dedicated the memorial.
where would it be.

Hi Mack !

I don't know if you have noticed or not .... but I have been looking for the original Honour Roll for months .... and before I said I would try ........ others have been looking too .... and we can't find it !!  :-\

There was also a Book of Remembrance at one time - but that has gone missing too !

I have talked to the people at the Monastery and told them that the list I have now - probably includes a few Protestants .... so that's why I was careful to say that these are men from the "Parish of St Francis " and this is a "re - compiled " Honour Roll ...... maybe I should be a bit more specific !

Manchester Archives has no knowledge ..... it's a possibility that the Brothers took it with them when they left .... but after following their trail .... nothing has been found yet !

I really hoped that we would find the original somewhere ... I even contacted the Vatican .... but even they couldn't find it !  I contacted the Franciscans but they had nothing either !

Have you got any other suggestions Mack ?!
