May thanks for digging these out - both very interesting and show the 1st Battalion.

The 1954 film was taken shortly after the battalion's return from Malaya and prior to the move back to happy hunting grounds in Berlin.  The location was Harrington Barracks, Formby. The weather was unkind and rain fell throughout the ceremony.  The new Colours replaced those which had been presented some eighty-two years previously at Hazanibagh, India.

Robert,
I have just watched the 200th anniversary clip again and noticed that only the Queens Colour is being carried on parade. What is the reason for that please?

What a question for a Saturday morning!

This was a unique one-off parade with the actual form of  the parade  framed by the Adjutant and the Regimental Sergeant Major, based on the ceremony of Trooping  The Colour.  In modern times only the Queen's Colour is on parade and trooped along the ranks of the battalion - as per the annual Bde of Guards Troop on the Queen's birthday.

In her speech to the 1st Battalion at Brentwood Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother  said "As I watched the traditional movement of Trooping the Colour, performed with such splendid precision, my thoughts went back to some of the epic landmarks in the long history of the Regiment."

Many thanks for your interesting answer. My own experience being limited to Regimental days and the presentation of new Colours in 1978 when both Colours were on parade.
