John Staniforth died of a heart complaint in 1920 having been pensioned unfit in 1916 with the condition aggravated by service. Here's the record http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/1114/MIUK1914A_087042-00833/753942?backurl=http://person.ancestry.co.uk/tree/4098815/person/803427107/facts#?imageId=MIUK1914A_087042-00841 He appears to be buried in Gorton in the family plot. http://www.burialrecords.manchester.gov.uk/GenLocDetails.aspx?ID=182647

Any thoughts about application to CWGC?

Ancestry Page 19322 of the Pension Record provides the Medical Board report of 14/8/1916.  This specifies Cause of Dsicharge as D.A.H. (Tachy Cardia)

The condition is described as "...not resulting of but aggravated by ordinary military service.."
This could mean the condition leading to his death (to be confirmed with DC) was aggravated by previous  service.  Otherwise the report may be interpreted as a pre-existing condition that has led to his discharge because he was unfit for future service.

Mrs B isn't impressed with my recent investment in DCs and I don't need more strife unless there is a likelihood CWGC will be thinking he died due to his service.  I'm a little doubtful.

I've also asked Chris Harley of IFCP the question and he's asked how we obtain confirmation we have the right man in Gorton.  Does anyone have experience of this? Apparently MCC website isn't good enough.

Thoughts appreciated

ps the condition "originated" after he had enlisted at Crowborough

John Staniforth died from pulmonary TB.  The previous heart condition could not have helped survival, but the casue of death is different. Hence no CWGC commemoration.
