Hello and thank you for allowing me access to your forum.
I might be a slightly unusual new member as I have no connection to the Manchester regiment or indeed to the North west, however I would be grateful for any help your members might be able to give.
I have a small collection of Commonplace or autograph books from the early part of the 20th century.
In one of these, amongst the usual charming drawings and verses are several pages of names and regiments of soldiers from the Great War. The variety of regiments leads me to believe that these soldiers were in hospital somewhere in the UK and that perhaps the young lady (name Doris and probably originally from Abertillery) might have been a nurse.
2 of the soldiers were from the Manchester regiment and I would like to find out more about them and solve the mystery of why their names are in this young lady's book.
I will post their details in the appropriate forum section and I would be very grateful for any information or guidance.
