Hi arantxa,

One of the Oldham Pals, Pte. 2051 (later Pte. 375446) Joshua L Brimelow's Military Medal award appeared in the London Gazette 27th June 1918. You might find that a newspaper article regarding this award was published in the local newspaper around this date, or there after. If you live local, a search of the local newspapers will probably give you more information.... unless one of our forum pals already have a copy and can take a look for you. Keep your fingers crossed  ;)

PS I've posted Joshua's MIC.

well done linda

he was an original territorial force soldier before the war, like the TA now, he originally signed up for home service but agreed to serve overseas

he went first to egypt and then on to gallipoli, landing there on the 15th may 1915, gallipoli was a nightmare and no doubt he was in the next month at the battle of Krithia

have a look at this on the main site, it a potted history of the battalion
