Montauban Church - Probably late 1915 - early 1916

I thought I would share a recent acquisition of a postcard.  It shows a building that appears to be a church and Montauban in written on the back.  By the time the British arrived, there was very little left of the church, so later pics don't confirm either way.  There appears to be snow on the ground, suggesting a time frame of winter 1915/1916, when the Regiment arrived down the road in Maricourt and Carnoy.

It is always difficult to give a date to photographs of this type, but remember that the winter of 1916/17 was described as the coldest in living memory, with, of course, snow on the ground.  At one stage a temperature of minus 20  was recorded on the Somme battlefield.   PhilipG.

it could be deceiving,theres no snow on the brickwork or the roof,what looks like snow,could be the plaster dust from the damaged walls and roof.
