Hi Everyone,
I do hope that someone can help me.  I came across a letter sent to my nan (I think) it was from private William Baines, 3530990.  The letter was sent from 6th Manchester Regiment, A Coy, Hessle, near Hull.  I think the letter was sent around December 1941.
This is a new find and I am very keen to find out more information on William.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Wendi

Hi Julie and welcome to our forum.

It's not easy to find out too much about WW2 soldiers, as their information is generally limitedto their immediate relations, but good luck. You just never know what might turn up!

Based on the soldiers I'm researching, his S/N 3530990 indicates he enlisted mid-to-late April 1939. Hope this helps. Do you have a photograph of him or know what he looks like?
