Hello all, I'm new to the forum and searching for information about an uncle who served in the Manchester Regt in WWI.

I've found that Frederick James Farrance enlisted at Colchester on 24 Sep 1914 into the ASC. His number M1017 indicates that he was a driver and his trade is shown as Engine Driver. He was stationed at Aldershot and Woolwich Dockyard.
Records state that he was posted to the 62nd Training Reserve at Kinmel Park, Abergele, in Feb 1917, and then posted to the Manchester Regt in France until demobilisation in 1919. His Manchester Regt number was 50703.
I have seen his medals, British and Victory, which are engraved with his name, number and Manchester Regt.

I would like to find in which battalion and where he served, if that is possible. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi TARA Welcome to our forum.

As you have his number, the medal index rolls, held at Kew will detail his Battalion, the index reference number will be on his medal card.
It is possible themonsstar has copies,  but it might be a bit of a wait before he sees your post.

Good luck
Wendi
