Good evening to everyone.
I am here, partly as a request from another member because my Great Uncle, 164 CSM Sydney Robert Cookson, served in 1st/7th Bn The Manchester Regiment and was killed in 1915. He is buried at Redoubt Cemetery, Helles but he left some interesting photographs which I have been able to copy into Photoshop and process so they are quite legible. I was named after him and feel a link back to those times. I have a great interest in both WWI and II and am a member of The War Graves Photographic Project which is hoping to photograph all known British & Commonwealth war graves and monuments. Our archive currently contains over 1,790,000 images!
I hope to be able to contribute some new information and also possibly to learn more of my Great Uncle.

My father was a Mancunian but I was lucky enough to be born in Yorkshire I served for 2 years with the RNR in Birmingham and the 9 years with the Home Service Force in Huddersfield as a Platoon Sergeant, firstly with The Yorkshire volunteers and then with The Duke Of Wellington's Regiment
