Hi, this is a long shot.

My Great-Grandfather Charles Webb, born 21 Feb 1890, lived in Royton. I only have vague family information as he suffered from dementia when my mother knew him. He served in both wars, I'm assuming he joined the Manchesters during WW1. He didn't have a middle name and there were a few Charles Webb's around in records.

He served in Palestine, although I am not sure during which war. He saw the Pyramids and the Star of David.

He served in tanks, most likely  during WW2 - my guess is that he was in 41 RTR or 47 RTR and was at El Alamein (he may well have seen the Pyramids then). He rose to be a Sergeant and I believe he was a cook during WW2 (makes sense since he would have been getting on a bit). He did have some medals, but I have no idea which ones.

Any info/suggestions would be appreciated.
