Hello,

It is actually his WW1 Pension Record.

It states he was born in November 1893 at Ashton under Lyne.

He served 6 years in the 4th Special Reserve Bn. The Manchester Regiment & was released because he was time expired.  This is the old Militia.

He was married in 1902 and had his first child in 1904.

On Ancestry it says 1884, but he was born in 1875 I was wondering if there would be any records available from when he served in the Manchester battalion.

sphinx

Some Militia Records do exist.  They are on Find My Past - his is not there though.

It's a shame :( where would he have gone with the special reserve battalion ? Because it was before the war started . ???

sphinx

No-where.

They were volunteers who were willing to embody in time of crisis and  did a 2 week camp each year in the UK.
