Hi Forum,
I'm reviewing the casualties for the Flers assault.  This chap is shown as 17th on SDGW, but 7th on CWGC record.  Has anyone clarified this before? John is buried in A.I.F Flers which certainly indicated 17th is the best bet.

Thanks
Tim

The Regimental History of the 7th Mcrs.reports that having been in Gallipoli and the Middle East for 2 years, they sailed from Alexandria for France on 3rd March 1917 together with the 8th Ardwicks. PhilipG.

Philip,
Absence of 7th and burial / date of death with many other 17th men confirms the SDGW record is right for 17th.

Thanks

Haha,

Need to Convince Field Marshall Bell (The Missus) to give me leave.  I'm hoping to visit Flers on12th October, so brownie points running out.

Cheers
Tim
