Any information on either of the following men would be appreciated.

1)  Five men named G Taylor served in the Regiment in the Boer War with the 1st, 2nd and 6th Battalions.  Was G Taylor of 28 Audley Street, Ashton one of these?

2)  Arthur Thornley son of Edward A Thornley married Eva Pickford in 1917 when he is is believed to have come home to the UK on leave.  Thought to have lived at either Pollinger Street or Portugal Street, Ashton.  Did Arthur serve in the Manchesters?

Robert,

I can't help re the Taylors although I have answered this queery previously in recent times on the forum.  Can't remember where though.

There were two Alfred Thornleys who served overseas in the Manchesters in WW1.

Pte. 10571, 12 Platoon, C Coy, 18th (3rd City) Bn. who became a 2nd Lt. in the Northumberland Fusiliers.
and
Pte. 11688, 3 Platoon, A Coy, 19th (4th City) Bn.
