Hello,

I am currently in the final stage of my MA degree at the University of Manchester and am currently researching the effects of participating in the Kenyan and Malaysian Counter-Insurgencies on National Servicemen during the 1950's.

I was wondering if anyone knows of, or is in contact with any ex National Servicemen who served in Malaya during the Malayan emergency? As i would greatly appreciate speaking to and possibly interviewing anyone who wishes to volunteer. This would greatly aid my research into this topic, and also contribute towards recognising what a great job our National Servicemen did during this time period, which is all too easily forgotten.

Finally, i know the Manchester's did not participate in the Kenyan emergency, but i would also greatly appreciate any assistance on this front also.

Best wishes,
Liam Hart

Liam.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your dissertation.  You have chosen a very interesting subject. I shall send you a pm with the details of the chairman of the Manchester Regiment Malayan Veterans Association who will, I feel sure, be very willing to help.
