I have been looking at this:-

References to OTC are included, but Lt Col Elstob has no reference to his OTC Service.  It's possible, they ran out space for his full resume...

In any event, it gives me something to look for my link with the Uni and reasons for the non-Manchester officers joining the Pals.  themonstar gives me my best lead yet in this thread http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=112158

Wilfrith Elstob was never a member of the Manchester University OTC.  His only claim to a military background was that as a schoolboy at Christ's Hospital he had been a Lance-Corporal in the cadets.

You have been rather misled by the description of the University memorial plaque.  This is dedicated  'To the members of the University of Manchester and of the University OTC...'

It therefore includes all casualties, irrespective of whether they were members of the OTC or not.
