I am researching a man who joined the 2nd Battalion in 1933, was still with them in 1935, but served in the 1st Battalion in Palestine.
I can find no record of a draft transferring from the 2nd to the 1st Battalion between 1935 and 1938 - does anyone know if there was one and if so, when it was?
Many thanks.

Bob,

You answered the original thread with all his service details, including that he left and rejoined in the 30's.

Guys,
Many thanks for this but I'm just trying to find out when he transferred from the 2nd to the 1st Battalion.
If it's out there, where can one find this info?
Many thanks.

I will have a look at the Jap stuff I have.

Bob.NB

Roy,
Many thanks for this - are there any documents which list transfers between the regular battalions?
I fear probably not.
Best wishes and have a great Christmas.

Roy,
No not yet, that is my last resort.
I have a number of men I am researching and at £30 a go it all mounts up but I suppose at some stage I am just going to have to "bite the bullet."
Many thanks for all your help.
Best wishes for the New Year.

bob,

Don't forget unless you can prove death with an accepted document they would have to be born over 118 years ago, which for WW2 vets would not normally be the case.

Bob.
When the regtl archives re-opens after the holiday - 2nd Jan - why not ask Larysa to look him up in the enlistment books. A move between battalions might well have been written in by a clerk at Preston.
