 ??? Im gobsmacked. I pretty much thought once you were in a battalion you would more or less remain there. That obviously wasnt so. What does puzzle me, of all the battalions the one raised under his own town (the 5th?) is never mentioned.

its possible he was rejected from the 5th batt as unfit,so he joined the 14th,ive seen quite a few blokes who were rejected through ill health or underage,going up to wigan and joining the 14th batt.

the wigan pals company was part of the 14th batt,it was known as the wigan+district pals coy.

occupation,miner
21-9-15 went to gallipoli with the 11th batt,evacuated home on 25-7-16[sick]
discharged from hospital, sent on 10 days leave,from 6-8-16 till 16-8-16.
appointed unpaid L/cpl 14-12-17
18-4-17,sent to france with the 12th batt
29-1-18 accidentally injured his index fingure,sent to eastleigh CCS,then to the 2nd western general hospital,stockport
transferred to class P,for employment at blyth hall colliery,lower ince.
