Illness abbreviation

I am researching a soldier who was treated in hospital for an illness of V.D.H. caused by excessive strain and climatic conditions in India and the Straits settlements.

Any idea what VDH is please?

its valvular disease of the heart,ive seen this in many pension records and the doctors diagnosis usually states,caused by strain or weather conditions or both

i couldnt either simon,until roy explained what it meant a couple of years back,there was another one that kept cropping up as well,it was PUO[pyrexia of unknown origin]never would have got this without roys help
