Hi everyone,

Looking forward to finding out information about my grandfather's brother, Stephen Charles Andrews. His MIC shows he was in the 1/8 Manchester's.

After searching on the site I found this reply in a post from 2009 (I have deleted all the other line entries) ......

these men,appeared in a list of wounded men,of the 1/8th manchesters,which was posted on 23rd june 1915.
some may have died of their wounds later.
all are privates,unless stated.

1458 stephen,charles andrews,meadow st,gorton

Would anyone know where this information was acquired from ? is it still available ?  would the original info have details of the injury and/or the details of the incident/location where the injury was sustained ?

Any help or direction would be welcomed,

Tony

Mack,

Thanks for the reply.

Wow, I had not got to look at/find out any info on my grandfather's other brother Sydney. Incidentally my grandfather Harold Sykes Andrews served in the Royal Field Artillery during WW1 was discharged through wounds, in his case it lead to a amputation of his right arm.

Sydney later emigrated to Australia, but that's another search thread !!

Your information seems to be quite specific, can I ask where the military info was obtained from ?  I had some of the occupational info from the census/s.

Thanks again for your reply, I am most grateful. (a cliche I know, but me thinks this delving into ones family history should have started 30 odd years ago when the people to answer the questions were still around )
