I received my Dads Army records this weekend and just wanted to say Thanks for all your help   ;D

Thanks Chris,
                 Does anyone know what "embarked draft see DADY.Q BAOR" means?
also he was in the "para regt" any links to any info would be great i.e would he have sported a certain type of cap badge or lapel badge?
He was also promoted to L/CPL would I be able to find out why he was promoted or is L/CPL not such a big deal?

Hi Bazza !

Glad you got your Pa's service record ~ that was a quick turn around, lucky you.  Bet your on a learning curve now, glad to see that chaps are helping you out.

Hi Wendy,
             Yes, you're right I've got the bug now and want to know as much as I can about his time in the regiment. I was interested to see that on his records he went AWOL for 2 days and lost 2 days pay as a result. I stupidly asked my mother did she know why he went AWOL, she said it's the first she'd heard of it (whoops!!). They were married shortly after. I like to think he did the 'man thing', got cold feet and went on drinking bender for 2 days.  ;D
