I Was There Magazine
« on: October 09, 2021, 11:48:17 AM »
Hello,
At the Tameside Local Studies & Archive Centre, we have received a lovely service record of Pvt George William Smith 53597, 2/7th and in his memoirs, he notes that there was a good picture of them in 'I was there magazine 1917. Does anyone have a copy of this that they may be able to send us please?
Grateful wishes
Jill Morris

I can't send it to you but am willing to copy the picture if I can find it.

Just like to say that I've travelled up to the Archives an few times

 was to much trouble.
Hope to make another trip in the future.
 Thank you

Thank you Timberman for sending the image, poor chaps they look perished. What an awful war, but more than 100 years later we are still remembering them and the sacrifice many made.
I'll add it to our George Smiths display.
many thanks again
Jill
