Berlin - Spandau Jail.  May 1950.  Lieutenant P N St J Saunders and B Company 1st Bn taking over guard duties from the Americans. In addition to a multi-national staff of prison warders the four occupying nations each took it in turns to provide a military guard. This particularly suited the Russians as it allowed them free access into the British Sector of the City.

Missing photos replaced. The RSM Lomas photo and the RSM, Phil, ? belonged in the Far East photo section and are there so has been deleted from here.

Comments by Robert Bonner:
The officer in the car is Brigadier DR Morgan the British Berlin Commander - a most excellent officer. The occasion is the King's birthday Parade on 8 June 1950.  The battalion, together with 1st Royal Fusiliers and 1st Black Watch paraded at the Olympic Stadium on the Maifeld parade ground.
