pte 2665 john goodall who had been wounded in the crimea,was invalided home on xmas day 1854,he and many other men invalided home from the crimea,were disembarked at liverpool in january 1855,they were all admitted to the workhouse where every comfort and needs were provided for them,pte goodall died from the effects of his wounds in february 1855,he was buried with full military honours in st.james cemetery,liverpool,the firing party was provided by the royal lancashire artillery and the service conducted by the reverend j.holme,his name and those of six others who died from this batch of soldiers at the same time,are commemorated on a memorial in this cemetery
