I found the grave of Joseph in a local church yard at Adderbury. I have done an Ancestry search but have only found an MIC.

Does anyone know any more about him please?

Joseph Arthur Welch son of Joseph Welch (carter of Adderbury) and Ellen. Birth registered Banbury, 1896.

Joseph senior married Ellen Gardner in 1878. The marriage was registered at Banbury.

He died in England (death registered Banbury) and after the war ended - would that make a difference?

I thought that was the case? However he has a CWGC headstone.

IIRC the cut off date for the great war was 1921, It was recognised that soldiers were still dying for their country after the armistice

I also meant to say,

As well as not being listed on the SDGW he is not on the roll of honour for the 16th Bn either.
