Arthur Eustace Buckingham

Hello this is may first post. I am trying to find any information about Aurthur Eustace Buckingham CSMIM WO2, for a member of my family that doesn't have a computer. Others things known are, he was married in Ireland in 1866 (he was in the Manchester Regiment then), he was drawing an army pension in 1907 and died in 1917.

Any help or pointers would be much appreciated, what might he have been doing in Ireland in 1866 for instance and elsewhere.

do you mean sgt buckingham was born in 1866,the only sgt buckingham that i know,was a musketry instructor at witney camp hampshire with the 4th manchesters in 1901,his wife was teresa and he had 2 daughters,i think he was awarded a jubilee coronation medal for queen victorias jubilee.

Thanks for reply, no he was married in 1866 in Cork I think. He had a son born in 1907 (my family members father), this is how we know he was drawing an army pension, it was on the birth certificate. I have just noticed 2 numbers, I made a note of that I was given  10. 12.  and 107319 not sure they mean anything.

The dates don't ring true to me.

If he married in 1866 it would be very unusual to be having a son b.1907.

There is an Arthur E. Buckingham who died in 1917 aged 51 (reg'd Farnham, Surrey) - ie born 1866.

Do we know where the son was born?

That could well be him, my relations live in Farnham, to much of a coincidence that. I could well have been given duff gen, so I will get back to them.
Might take a day or two to contact them, I will ask them to verify his age when he died as I think they have the death certificate.

arthur eustace died the following year before he reached his 1st birthday.
my guess is that sgt buckingham was born 1866,married 1896 and died 1917
his wife teresa was born in ireland

Yep, makes sense to me. No sign of an English marriage, so perhaps in Ireland as per the family story,

Arthur was the son of Frederick Buckingham, painter, (b.Lambeth c.1831) and his wife Jane.

Updated information from the family. Sgt Buckingham 'was' born in 1866, (they don't know where), he was married 15th Sept 1892 in Ireland to Mary Teresa, she was older than him. Only one daughter survived childhood, they think several siblings died in childhood. Algernon Fredrick was born in Aldershot (they thought 1907), and Sgt Buckingham was buried in Aldershot (they are not sure where). Interesting find for Fredrick b.1831, the family member asking for info is a retired painter/decorator, his father Algernon had a builders business in the Farnham area.

The fact that Algernon Fredrick's birth was registered in Mar 1908 means that he could have been born late 1907. (I was born Dec 26th - birth registered Mar the following year!).
