Can anyone confirm that this is a Manchester Regiment service number from the time of the Malayan conflict.

There is a chance it could maybe be a Kings Regiment number.

Numbers beginning 22717 were certainly allocated to the Manchester Regiment.

Your enquiry could easily relate to somone who served with the Kings, as recruits were transferred willy nilly at that time between the Lancashire regiments.
