Yes,

As suspected it is a re-named medal.  It is engraved rather than impressed

Old naming, no doubt done by him after losing or more likely pawning his original (the one I have)

He just obtained another QSA with the same number of clasps, it didnt matter what they were, and had the original owners name ground off and his details put on.

If you ever wished to move it on and re-unite it with his original medals please let me know

Interesting - I am slightly surprised as the rim still has its circular edge line intact (I am trying to describe the circumference line on the faces of the medal).

I now think I paid well over the odds for this - do you want to make an offer ?

Chrismanc

By the way - do you have him as 745 or 746 on the medal?

sphinx

He is 746.

If you bought the medal of a dealer and you think you paid over the odds my advice is to return it to him forthwith for a refund as it is obvious to experienced medal collectors very clearly re-named.

Re-named medals have very little value and people buy them for the clasps to re-use on their medals.

I hope this doesnt come as a very big shock to you.

I will PM you re your suggestion.

Yes,

All Victorian medals were silver, the clasps are not.
