Manchesters in the Harz

My partner is from Goslar, in the Harz. I see that the Manchesters were there in 1946. Where would I find some history? Her mother might remember some people. My Partner's brother in law is an editor for the Goslarsche Zeitung, the local Harz daily. His name is Dieter Boehl and he speaks excellent english.
