Not exactly the sort of news to be entered in this section however it is the only way I can think of to let everyone who may have served under him or knew him know that I received this sad news just half an hour ago from his widow Terri, Fred died Friday 25th February, 2011.
Fred  was based at the depot Ashton under lyne up to about 1953, he then joined the 1st Bn in Malaya as a Sgt; in 1956 he was appointed W.O.II and took over C Company from the late J. Heason. Following the amalgamation he remained with the Kings Regiment until his service was completed. He untimately settled in Newport Shropshire from whence came this sad news
We extend our sincere condolences to his widow and family, may he rest in peace.
George Swetman.
