Firstly a great big hello to you all  :)

I am new to this group and in need of a little help.
My name is Amanda and i do lots of charity work for forces charities,In April i shall be taking to the skies along with 30-40 other people some of them being injured troops etc for a charity called Pilgrims Bandit made up mainly of special forces vets..I also do a lot of work for PROJECT 65 the veterans charity including the Forces March and Festival in May...which is 5 marathons in 5 days from Illfracoombe(hope i spelt it right) to Bulford camp.
Anyway i am a single mum with 3 boys all registered disabled and have my own health issues but i enjoy doing what i do and right now i have been asked to help a friend find some information out for an old veteran...

Details as follows......

David Collinson. He was a regular with the 2nd Batallion Manchester regiment and served in the Boer War and WWI. The group of medals my friend has are as follows:

Queens South Africa
Kings South Africa
1914 Mons Star with silver rosette
British War Medal
Victory Medal
The Military Medal

It is the last one I want to find out more about, like when he was awareded and for which action. I know all the bravery awards were recorded in the London Gazette, but I don't know how to access it.

Hi Amanda,

He also spent time in Singapore and India.

According to his record, 8997 David Collinson was gazetted 21-10-1918, but I can't find the entry.

I'm sure someone here can help you.

Hi Amanda

Welcome to the forum
I've had a look on the London Gazette site with no joy I'm afraid.
I've put the link to the L/G for you, if you put the details in the search box you may have more luck.
