Hello,
I'm new to the forum and have joined because I have noticed that some members (Harribobs, Kingo and Migky) had a discussion on the site earlier this year about my partners Grandfather, Albert Edward Taws)
On the site, there was a photograph of him in uniform and a certificate recognising his sacrifice in the war.
I would like to how the photo came to be in the possession of whoever posted it as we have no photo of him and how they are certain it is him.
He had 5 children only 2 of whom lived to adulthood and only one of the 2 had any children.
Also, I believe there was a Taws family tree sent to Harribobs and I am interested to know his relationship to the Taws family.

Hello sarah hewings

Welcome to the forum.

I sure you'll get an answer to your question.

But this is a research group for the Manchester Regiment and anything to do with the Manchester's that is found only adds to the history and memory of the soldiers that served. Things like photos are found everywhere and for sale even on Ebay.
We then have people asking questions about photo's, medals and family members.
Our enjoyment is being able to give them an answer.
It was Harribobs that posted the photo and asked for information so I'll leave it to him to answer your question

#4
historical thread but I'm updating it, I was contacted by a carer that several items, including photos and effects from Albert had been left with her after her client had died, she tried to return them to the family but failed and wanted to pass them on to some one who cared

the good news is that it was more a breakdown in communications, and are back with the family

I also included all the information that the forum moderators could put together, which was impressive, and his Grandson was very pleased

I will remember Albert as well
