Hello everybody.  I'm a new member to this forum.  I'm Jim and I'm 33.  I'm a member of the SWARM - Salford War Memorials project team, and one of the mods on the SWARM forum.  I'm here because my pal Debbie advised this for info about my great-grandfather.  She's already put a post on under his name; Samuel Arthur Shelmerdine, but thought I'd come along in person, too.  Glad to be here and hope to become a useful contributor.  Thanks for reading this little intro, may health, happiness, and prosperity come and bless each and every one of us.

Hi there HH,
Welcome indeed to the site and may you have many happy times on it. One question for you - a colleague of mine from the Preston area sent me a cutting referring to the Seamens Mission Memorial from the old Salford Docks area on Trafford Road - It used to have a massive memorial as far as my memory goes to the lads, mainly  merchant navy but with some Royal Navy included. Any ideas what is likely to happen to it? or would that be beyond the scope of SWARM. ???
