Hi everybody,

Three members of my family in the Manchesters (9th, 16th and 24th) during WWI. Hoping to find out more about them or how to do so. Looking forward to talking to you.

Cheers,

grimmy

mack - names:

Grandfather: William Bond Grimshaw, 15174, CSM B Coy (later Sgt D Coy), 24th Manchesters.

Grandmother's cousin: Norman Fowler Wilson,  6819, Pte 16th Manchesters, kia Montauban 1/7/1916.

Apart from the CWGC entry for NF Wilson, I can find nothing about him in the records.

Bit late and you may allready have this but?

Norman Fowler Wilson of 45 Alderley Road, Flixton.
Probate: 27th May 1919 to Albert Jackson, Solicitor. Sum of £112-10s

You can get a copy of his war grave from this site but cost £3

Click here 4 Norman Foler Wilson's grave photo

He maybe on a war memorial for Salford/Flixton? Might be worth asking on here?

Migky  ;)

grimmy

Thanks Migky, worth a try I guess.

Problem is - I don't think he ever lived at Flixton, that was where his widow moved to after re-marrying. We (the family) always regarded him as an Oldham lad.

I'd be interested to know who decided who went on which war memorial  ???
