calamine, having seen that photo it's almost definite that the MOD will have his service record.

It'll cost you £30 and you will need a copy of his death certificate, and a little luck, 'cos they will have to hunt for it for you, but you have enough next of kin info etc. to verify that they could find the right record for you.
