Hi Guys not really sure whether this is the right place to post this topic, but here goes. This NCO served with the 11th Manchesters at Gallipoli, hereunder are his personal details I hope they may be of use to other researchers (any further info would be appreciated).
BREEN, Thomas Lance Corporal 4370 11th Bn Manchester Regiment
Born: Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.
Age: 33 Date of Death: 09/09/1915 Cause: Died of wounds, at sea (Sustained Gallipoli).
*Family Notes: Son of James and Margaret Breen, of 66 Ross Rd., Enniscorthy; husband of Margaret Breen, of 4 Patrick's Place, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.
Religion: Roman Catholic. Trade/profession: General Labourer (1911 Census).
Other Family Losses: His brother, 5387 Private James Breen, 1st Bn Irish Guards, was killed in action in France on, 18/5/15, he has no known grave, and is commemorated on Panel 4 the Le Touret Memorial, France.
Census Notes: The 1911 Census shows Thomas (aged 28), residing with his wife, Maggie (aged 21) at, No. 4, Patrick’s Place, Wexford, also present were their children, James (aged 2) and Maggie (aged 1); they stated that during their marriage they had two children , both of whom were alive at the time of the Census. The 1911 Census shows Lance Corporal Breen’s widowed mother, Mary (aged 61), residing at, No. 66, Ross Road, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, also present were her son, James (aged 23) and her married daughter, Mary Connors (aged 30) and her husband Patrick Connors (aged 36); Mrs. Breen stated that during her marriage she had five children, all of whom were alive at the time of the Census.
Special Notes: Lance Corporal Breen is listed on the IWM records as “died of wounds at sea, September 9, 1915.”
