« on: July 06, 2010, 01:16:51 AM »
pte clifford saxon a veteran of the gallipoli campaign, was brought before a FGCM on 27-12-17 charged with leaving his post without the orders of his superior officer,he was sentenced to 2yrs imprisonment with hard labour, the sentence being temporarily suspended.
during the german march offensive,he was awarded the military medal for excellent work+unfailing devotion to duty while employed as the No1 on the lewis gun.
his platoon commander wrote.he was very courageous, and completely indifferent to the heavy fire and did great execution amongst the germans.
his platoon commander later wrote to his superiors stating that in view of this young mans courage,it would be unfair for his sentence to be carried out.
it was SQUASHED
