thank you very much , charles bonehill was the mrs great uncle  killed on 1st july ,   do you know how people identify them is there a right to left order ??

Not totally random. Those with rank get a chair.

Not that it helps but the "seated on a  chair row" can be eliminated if one is trying to identify a private.

(it appears everyone on that row has stripes or a pip)

Alas, a lot of similar looking Privates still to go
