Great pictures, however the list of men always seem to end half way through the alphabet, do you have the info for the last part of the alphabet!  I am looking for Frederick Percival Leybourn(e) who was part of the 20th Battalion Manchester's.  He apparently was was B company platoon 8!

Thanks Mack, my research showed 8th, now I see his name listed in the 6th Platoon - the second column having the rest of the alphabet - I was brain dead yesterday ::)

I have a picture of his original grave that I want to post somewhere on the forum, I could do it under the 6th Platoon photograph, or somewhere else maybe, I will also post his full write-up along with pictures of his medals etc. How does one "attach" a picture to a post?

thanks,

Pick

does the date on fredericks cross say the 3rd november,if it does, then he must have been buried at the same time as Lt moor.VC.MC +bar
those crosses look like they were made by the same man

I cant thank you enough for this forum xxx and it took me while scrolling through each company and then platoon (information I didn't have)   :o :o :o

Private James Albert Pearson 17457 (my Granddad was named after him and served himself during WW2) 2xGreat Uncle to myself. He was Born 1894 Stockport Cheshire Parents - John Pearson and Martha Harriet Taylor and had 6 elder sisters.

In 1911 he lived at 12 Heathland Terrace Stockport with Parents aged 16 and Occupation- Yardever Domestic.

Died/KIA 3 Sept 1916 either on the front lines or during the advance to take Ginchy (south of Deville Wood)
Buried/Grave/Panel ref Pier and Face 13A and 14C. His names is also included on the STOCKPORT War Memorial

I have a couple of records medal and census etc the most recent was his soldiers will but nothing where a photo is included this is the closest we have to a photo.

Is there a way to work out which one he is ??

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately for relatives and researchers a 100 years later, their names are only listed and have no bearing to where they are in the photo.

Have you tried the local newspapers?

Michelle,
Not the same as a photo, but I found a quote for Pte J A Pearson - as a member of 20th Bttn Machine Gun Section. CWGC confirm that L/Cpl Kelsall was a member of 20th Bttn, who died on 1/7/1916.
