Inherited a picture of my grandfather - Andrew Lowe, born in Ardwick (Manchester) about 1873. And was living in Ashton under lyne when he enlisted.
I can't figure out how to upload pic (blush) or I would.

Anyway - I browsed the internet for the hat badge and believe it is Manchester Regiment. which was confirmed by Tamesside.gov.uk.  So I am confident he served in the Manchesters :D

I also found a medal card for an Andrew Lowe in the Manchester Reg in the National archives showing as Pte 360304.  Further research showed that this number was used by the 9th battalion when they renumbered (c1917).

Problem is I cannot absolutely confirm that these records relate to my grandfather. As far as I can tell, he served 1914-1920.

I would welcome any and all information - or hints on how to find it - so that I can colour in the outline.
Great Forum btw :D

Cheers
