Newbie from australia

Hi all, I'm jan, born in blackpool but live in Oz.  I've been trying to build a family tree and decided to track down family members through their military history. I'm currently researching my great grandfather Albert James Neal born in Stanley (Yorks) but married a tyldesley/leigh girl.  I've found some of his records but it seems that he was deemed unfit.  I'm also interested in the Skeats, namely Harold and Sydney from Tyldesley, Sydney got the MM and there is some discrepancy in later years as to the rank he attained (was he telling porkies).  I'm finding my searches fascinating and since my late husband was a military history buff I have a bookcase full of history.
I have put a post in 1914-18 re Albert - Did G Grandad ever get in.
