My Dad Clifford Kennedy was in the Manchester's. Sadly he died in 1965 and I have few memories of him. I do not even know which battalion he was in. Would love to learn about his war service, but have little detail other than he was born in 1919, was involved at Dunkirk and was in Burma in WW 2 What may I expect to find from this site?

Hi Dodd and a Warm Welcome to our forum  ;D

You can apply for his service record from the MOD via this link to the veterans agency http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/service_records.html

His service records will hold a lot of info including battalion info which will help in your future research.  There is not too much information relating to individuals from WW2 on the Web as it is still subject to restrictions, but I'll move your post over to the WW2 section and see what other info comes along!

Their's only one Battaion of the Manchester Regiment which fight at Dunkirk and in Burma, The 2nd Battalion. But there were other battalions of the Manchester Regiment at Dunkirk, he may have been in one of these battaions then post the 2nd battalion before it move to Burma.

You will need to do what Wendi as shown you to get his Army records, as it will help you with your research.
