Hi Again.

Just wondered if there's anyway to get 'copies' of my grandads medals?  I was given my pa's medals (Lancashire fusiliers - died in Burma 1944) and just a thought.  The only photo I have of my grandfather is one in mum and dads wedding photo. Just thought it'd be nice to have something 'of him'.

Hi Anne - seems that we are related! My Great Grandfather is James Winstanley.

I have been researching him for a while - his story makes interesting reading.  After contracting malaria and being wounded (twice if I recall) he came home only for his wife Bridget to die in 1919.

He then brought his kids up seemingly alone (though probably with family help) and thanks goodness he did because his daughter, Catherine, gave birth to my mum in 1942.

Please get in touch would be great to swap stories.

Hi Minnie,
I'm afraid we've not had any activity from Mack in recent years.  As a thorough and encylopedic founder member of the forum Mack's involvement is very much missed.

As a guess, try looking at the next of kin on the respective service records for the two men and work back though civil records from there. You'd be very welcome to share what you might find.
