hi , i need a little help with this one,  ww2 , private 14437501 john turner
his family think he was in the warwickshire regiment, he survived the war  and came from Birmingham but passed away without the family knowing any info on his army service, any help greatly appreciated. tony

Hi tony!

The next of kin can apply for his service record from The Army Personnel Centre in Glasgow, as they have his Surname, Forenames and Service Number.

Proof of death is required unless died during service.  Documents are free of charge for the widow/er, all others £30, and it can take a while (perhaps even 6 months if they are really busy)

hi wendi, thanks for the link, i was asked on sunday if i could find any info on john turner  i new it was a long shot being ww2 , but i had to give it a go.

 i have found private 14437501 john turner it turns out he was kia and as you all know one can find the info one needs when they are kia,  he was in the 1st bn leicestershire regiment died aged 18 on 29th october 1944 battle of the scheldt,  remembered with honour bergen-op-zoom war cemetery.   tony

He most have joined the General Service Corps first as his number is one issue to them

GSC No 14,200,001-15,000,000.

The Leicestershire Regt No 4,848001-4,904000.
